Lisa Beare announces candidacy for MLA
In Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows

[Maple Ridge] –Today, School Board Trustee Lisa Beare officially announced she is running to be the next NDP candidate for MLA in Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows.

“I have decided to put my name forward as a candidate because our community of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows have been neglected by the provincial government for too long, and it is time for a change. We are at a point of transition in our community and I believe with the right leadership Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows can thrive,” said Beare.

“I have been approached by many leaders in the community who have expressed the deficit of representation here. It is difficult for young families who are struggling to find affordable housing and make ends meet. I understand these concerns first hand, having a young family myself. John Horgan and the NDP will do a better job for our community.”

Beare has served on the Board of Education for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows for the past 2 years and topped the polls in the last municipal election. During her time on the School Board Lisa has participated in a number of committees and currently serves as the Boards representative for BCPSEA and the newly formed City of Maple Ridge Active Transportation Advisory Committee.

“My School Board colleagues and I have worked hard to bring attention to the lack of stable, predictable, sufficient funding for public education. I am proud to work with a team that cares so much about the future of our youth. Now I want to bring that collaborative approach to the provincial level, where Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows needs to be properly represented as one of the fastest growing areas in BC,” said Beare.

“To truly make education a priority for the provincial government, we need to make change in Victoria. I know that under the leadership of John Horgan, and our team in the Legislature, our communities can finally get the kind of advocacy and support they need.”
