Michael Sather’s Retirement Reception At The ACT

By on March 24, 2013

By David Murray. Last night I had the pleasure of attending Michael Sather’s Retirement Reception at the ACT in Maple Ridge. There was a good crowd out to wish Michael well in his retirement. Michael was a two term MLA for the riding of Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge.

Many of Michael’s friends were in attendance. Pitt Meadows Councillor Bruce Bell was the MC for the event. In attendance included fellow MLA colleagues Mike Farnworth and Guy Gentner. As well Maple Ridge City Councillor Corisa Bell, School Board trustee Ken Clarkson, former Maple Ridge councillors Craig Speirs and Linda King.

Also taking in the event were many of Michael’s ex staffers and long-time NDP members.

Elizabeth Rosenau who is the current NDP candidate for the riding of Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge gave a nice and thoughful speech about the Michael Sather era!

Michael’s wife Annette Lebox and family were in attendance as well.

Great night meeting a lot of good people listening to the good hearted roast and saying goodbye to someone that will be missed as our MLA but even more so in our provincial democracy, a man whose shoes will be hard to fill but I know and trust Elizabeth and know she will do a good job for the people of Maple Ridge and Pitt meadows. I know we haven’t seen the last of you Michael, but good luck in whatever path you take from here.
