Pitt Meadows|Today magazine and www.pittmeadowstoday.ca are brought to you by a group of business people, taxpayers and residents of British Columbia concerned that issues of importance to the voters should receive full public discussion in a way not available on other media.
Abbotsford Ratepayers Association (ARA) president Vince Dimanno, retired Mission councillor Ron Taylor, former newspaper editor Mike Archer, as well as journalist and Langley Township councillor Jordan Bateman have all contributed to the project. We hope to have a great deal of input, in our second edition, from readers, concerned residents, politicians and political candidates alike.
We are committed to an open discussion, involving the public, in the management and administration of public affairs in Pitt Meadows. Pitt Meadows|Today will contain opinion and commentary on issues of importance to residents, news and feature stories as well as letters and guest columns by experts, concerned citizens and the politicians, administrators and public officials who manage the public agenda in Pitt Meadows.
More than that, we are embarking on a cultural experiment by presenting; in their own words, and sometimes in their own language, the news, opinions and information of interest from as many communities within Pitt Meadows as will help us do so.
The Pitt Meadows|Today.ca website will offer opportunities to all cultural and ethnic groups within the larger community to showcase their culture and communicate, in their own way, with the larger community.
Our commitment to free speech means we will not present a one-sided chronicle of public affairs in our community but rather we will offer differing points of view on the subjects we cover. We are issuing an open invitation to all stakeholders, residents and people with something of value to add to the discussion to participate in Pitt Meadows|Today so that all voices in our community can be heard.
